IIT Kanpur sets up Solar Energy Research and Experimental Station

IIT Kanpur is planning to set up a 500 kw unit at institute to conduct research on low cost solar energy solutions. Currently, the solar power produced in India costs around Rs.15 per kilo watt hour, whereas conventional energy costs as little as Rs.3.5 per kilo watt hour. The institute will bring in multi discipline team from biotechnology, electrical departments etc.,
