Solana, a technology majored by Abengoa, the engineering major from Spain is set to commence power generation in Arizona in Texas in USA. The project will generate 280 MW of solar power for the first time using energy storage using molten salts. When the sun is out full blast, the solar farm can produce heat and pumps some of that into the molten salt tanks. The project has received investment of USD 2 billion and also a controversial US State Department of Energy guarantee. With this technology, solar power can provide continuous supply of power through the night.
