Vortex to deploy solar powered ATM’s for SBI

Vortex Engineering, a Chennai based engineering company which manufactures  automated teller machines (ATM) has developed a solar powered ATM with support from IIT, Chennai. It had been pilot tested at Cuddalore and now State Bank of India (SBI) had placed orders to deploy 545 ATMS across rural India. Conventional ATMs require 1000 watt of power plus requires an air conditioned requirement  consumes around 1800 units, whereas a solar powered equipment consumes less than 80 units resulting a savings of Rs.1 lakh a month. These ATM’s are branded a Grammateller which could be in huge demand considering low penetration of ATM’s in India (0.04 per 1000)
