KPCL plans joint-venture for 100 solar plants in Karnataka

KCPL, which had recently set up three 3 MW solar plants in Kolar, Belgaum and Raichur is planning to set up solar power plants of totalling 100 MW in the state. It has received expression of interest from US based SunEdison, AES Solar Energy Ltd, Hyderabad-based Solar Semiconductor Pvt Ltd, Bangalore-based Bharti Solar , Rajesh Global, and Kiran Energy. It is likely that KPCL will form a joint-venture company to set up these project and will pick up 26% equity in these ventures. Currently, KPCL has expertise and experience in setting upto 3 MW solar plants and is seeking expertise to set up solar plants upto 5-10 MW. Each of the solar plant will entail an investment of Rs.1500 million

Photon Energy commissions 3 MW Belgaum plant in Karnataka

Photon Energy Systems (PES) has commissioned the pilot and demonstration solar plant at Itnal and Chikodi towns in Belgaum district of Karnataka. The solar plant was occupies 17 acres with 13000 modules. The plants provide reliable power to farmers a 1.76 million units ( 3 MW ) to the grid

Azure Power to set up 12 MW solar power plants in Karnataka

Azure Power India Pvt Ltd is planning to invest Rs. 2000 million to set up a 2 MW solar plant in Kolar and a 10 MW solar plant in Bagalkot in Karnataka. The company has received state government approval  for Kolar project and signed the necessary purchase agreements. The unit will become operational by March 2011. The company had already commissioned a 2 MW solar power plant in Amritsar. It may be noted, the Karnataka government has provided a 10 year tax holiday to its solar power projects in the state.
