National Institute of Technology, Rourkela is planning to set up a 1 MW solar power plant in its campus. The funding for the project is to met from internal sources which will cost Rs. 100 million. Currently, the campus consumes around 1 MW of power daily and solar power will help to reduce cost.
Acme Bikaner Solar Power, a subsidiary of Acme Tele Power is planning to set up a 25 MW solar power plant in Orissa. The company has won the bid from the state government by quoting a tariff of Rs. 7.28 per unit. The company plans to achieve larger economies of scale by participation in other states too.
Alex Astral Power Pvt Ltd, a Kolkatta based company is planning to set up a 25 MW solar power project in the state of Orissa. The project will entail an investment of Rs. 3000 million and is likely to set up near Bolangir, where high radiation is likely. The project will be funded through a debt: equity ratio of 70:30. The power generated will be sold to GRIDCO at a tariff of Rs. 7/- and a PPA will be signed for a period of 25 years.
