Solex Group, a Mumbai based solar equipment company has launched a hybrid solar air conditioner which will conserve 30% electricity. The solar air conditioner will also operate on normal electric supply and it will also have a solar collector panel which can be fixed outside the room. Currently, the 0.75 tonne is priced at Rs..45000 and a 1.5 tonner cost Rs.71,000/-. The company is likely to tap the export market.
High Hind Vacuum is planning to invest Rs. 600 million to set up a manufacturing facility in Bangalore to produce silicon ingots and wafers for solar PV modules. The plant will have 10 furnaces and will act as a pilot plant. It is likely to go operational in 2013. High Hind Vacuum (HHV) is collaborating with ECM Technologies, a French firm for process know-how.
