Aeon Renewable Energy Solutions (of Chennai-based Madurai Appu Chain of restaurant) is setting up 25 MW solar power plant in Pudukottai and Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu. The project cost is estimated at Rs. 2500 million. Plans are to develop 5 Mw from Pudukottai in first phase, 10 Mw in Virudhunagar in second phase and complete 5 Mw each in both the locations in the third phase. It is also looking to set up a solar panel manufacturing unit which would be finalised in 2016.
The company also has plans to develop domestic household market products with rooftop units with 1 kW capacity and would appoint one distributor each across 150 districts in South India to market the product. The unit would produce around 4,000 watts a day which could be directly connected to the grid and can create a back up for four hours.
Enfinity Solar Solutions Pvt Ltd is planning to set up 100 MW solar power park in Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu and has acquired land and grid approvals for the power plant. On its own, the company is setting up a 15 MW solar power plant. The company will use crystalline silicon pv modules.
Gestamp, the Spanish major is planning to set up a 100 MW solar powered plant in Tamil Nadu. Southern Solar, its joint venture partner -Zynergy along with Gestamp will set up a 25 MW solar powered plant in Ramnad district of Tamil Nadu. The company has acquired 500 acres of land and is negotiating with power purchases to sign PPA's. Gestamp has 70% stake in the venture.
